Tap to Rate is coming to Groceryshop 2026

Groceryshop 2026

TruRating is bringing Tap to Rate to Groceryshop 2026, taking place September 22–24 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. After using the technology across the ShopTalk Spring show floor earlier this year, we are returning to Las Vegas to show how one simple tap can capture useful feedback while an experience is still happening.

Groceryshop brings together retailers, brands and technology teams from grocery, mass, drug, club, convenience and dollar channels. This makes it a natural setting for Tap to Rate and its simple approach to collecting feedback beyond the checkout.

Why Groceryshop 2026 matters

As one of the largest gatherings focused on grocery retail technology, Groceryshop 2026 will bring together 4,000 leaders from more than 50 countries. Its agenda includes more than 50 sessions covering the technology, operational and customer challenges shaping everyday retail.

The official agenda is organized around six main themes:

  • AI-Powered Shopping Experiences
  • Transforming and Optimizing Business Operations
  • Retail Media Opportunities and Challenges
  • Unified Commerce and Omnichannel Marketing Strategies
  • Meeting Consumer Expectations
  • Winning and Engaging Customers

These topics are different, but they share a common requirement. Retailers need clear signals about what customers are experiencing, why behavior is changing and whether new ideas are working in practice.

What is Tap to Rate?

Tap to Rate is a real-time customer feedback tool designed for moments when traditional customer feedback software can feel too slow or detached from the experience being measured.

The mechanic is deliberately simple:

  1. An attendee taps their phone on an NFC-enabled stand or scans its QR code.
  2. One question opens in their browser.
  3. They select an answer and can add open-text feedback if they have more to say.
  4. They move on.

There is no app to download and no long survey to complete. A stand or sticker can be placed at a registration area, counter, service desk, collection point, table or exit path.

The feedback collected through Tap to Rate flows into TruHub alongside data gathered at the point of payment. This gives teams a wider view of the journey, combining feedback from buyers with signals from other important customer touchpoints.

Building on ShopTalk Spring

At ShopTalk Spring 2026, Tap to Rate touchpoints were placed around registration, lunch and session areas. Attendees could answer in seconds, giving organizers feedback tied to a specific place and moment while the event was still underway.

The important lesson was not simply that people used it. The technology created a live signal without asking attendees to leave the flow of the event or remember their experience several days later.

Groceryshop gives us an opportunity to build on that approach in an environment focused specifically on everyday retail.

What to expect at Groceryshop 2026

The most useful Tap to Rate placements at Groceryshop are likely to be the moments where large numbers of attendees move through a shared experience.

That could include:

  • Registration and arrival
  • Keynote and session exits
  • The expo floor
  • Lunch and refreshment areas
  • Meeting lounges
  • High-traffic exit routes

Each location can ask a focused question about that particular part of the event. A session exit could capture whether the content was useful. A registration touchpoint could identify arrival friction. An expo-floor placement could provide a read on navigation or the quality of the experience.

Rather than relying on one broad survey after the event, organizers can build a clearer picture from several specific moments.

From the show floor to the grocery store

The same approach to in-store customer feedback works beyond an event venue. In a grocery environment, Tap to Rate can be placed wherever a retailer needs to understand a specific part of the customer journey.

That might include:

  • BOPIS and curbside collection
  • Customer service counters
  • Self-checkout areas
  • Fresh food or prepared meal counters
  • Product sampling and promotional displays
  • Store exits
  • Specific departments or aisles

A customer does not need to complete a purchase before giving feedback. This helps retailers understand the people and moments beyond the point of payment.

It also allows teams to ask a precise question close to the experience. Was the collection process easy? Was help available? Was the promotion clear? Was the department easy to navigate?

The result is a signal connected to a real place and moment, rather than a general score collected after the details have faded.

TruRating offers a faster way to identify experience risk, validate new initiatives and understand where execution varies across locations or customer touchpoints. Tap to Rate supports that work by making feedback simple to give and easier to connect to the moment being measured.
