Why the UK’s happiest female-founded startup is winning at culture and CX

What happens when a startup puts people first? As it turns out, a lot of good things.

A new independent study from Stephen Eve Financial Planning dug into reviews from 40 of the UK’s fastest-growing companies to understand how leadership style affects workplace culture. The big takeaway? Female-founded companies are making employees happier, across the board.

They saw higher scores for culture, career progression, and inclusion, and it wasn’t even close. That prompted researchers to go a step further and ask: Who’s doing it best?

That’s when they found us — TruRating was ranked the #1 happiest female-founded company in the UK, with a standout score of 4.6/5 on Glassdoor.

People-first startups aren’t just nicer — they perform better

Across those 40 fast-growing businesses, the data painted a clear picture: when women lead, teams thrive. Here’s how female-founded companies stacked up:

  • 13% higher employee happiness
  • 14% faster career progression
  • 15% better diversity & inclusion
  • 18% stronger workplace culture
  • 14% better compensation & benefits
  • 13% better work-life balance

TruRating stood out because we live these values every day. This just goes to show that empathy and ambition aren’t opposites; they’re a killer combo.

“You can scale with heart” — Georgina Nelson, Founder & CEO

Being recognised like this is an amazing moment, not because of the title, but because it proves you can grow fast, go global, and still do things the right way. We’ve built a culture that puts people first, champions inclusion, and constantly asks how we can do better, for each other and for our customers. That’s what makes the work exciting.”

Georgina Nelson, our Founder and CEO
